Conscious Design Strategist Ideation Consultant Futurist Adventurer Journey Architect Writer Bassist |
I 'm a conscious design strategist, futurist, adventurer, and author who seeks to help people to challenge their comfort zone, develop consciously, and create forward-thinking, purpose-led solutions for a better self and world.
This portfolio meets CV meets vision board is a reflection of who I am, what I’ve learnt, and the ongoing journey towards the desired legacy I hope to create, showcasing my unique blend of knowledge, skill, values, vision, and experience I have to offer:
I help individuals, teams, and brands move beyond unconscious conditioning to consciously design healthier ways of living - mentally, culturally, physically, and imaginatively.
This portfolio is a bit different from the conventional. It’s a reflection of who I am, what I’ve learnt, and the ongoing journey towards the desired legacy I hope to create – a portfolio meets CV meets vision board, if you will.
My mission is to inspire people to step beyond their comfort zone, grow with awareness, and create forward-thinking, purpose-led solutions that benefit both self and society – blending insight, exploration, and creativity to spark meaningful transformation.
I do this through a variety of roles (or ‘hats’) that integrate my knowledge, skill, values, vision, and lived experience: as a conscious design strategist, an adventurer, and as an author.
We all have a unique blend of
different hats to offer...
...these are mine:
Conscious Design Strategist (Ideator / Futurist)
Design has been my core staple career over the years, through multi-disciplinary design related fields such as graphic/web, landscape, UX, and intervention design. This was later fused with a keen interest in human psychology and future-thinking to craft a current career helping clients as a ‘conscious design strategist’ (a blend of design thinking, behavioural psychology, innovation consulting, and futurism).
This involves understanding human behaviour, culture, and current systems to map trends, envision future scenarios, sense patterns (that may hinder or support human development), and identify emerging needs. These insights are then translated to action – ideating and (re)designing relevant solutions, systems, or user experiences (via products, services, interactions, spaces, apps) that aid ‘humanness’ or human potential (i.e. conscious living, agency, health, optimising, movement), rather than feed the opposite (i.e. escapism, doom-scroll, indoor life, consumerism).
As part of this, I founded The Envisionary – a hub that aims to bring out our human agency and creative vision (and to develop the conscious designers, thinkers, and leaders our world needs), via its ‘living lab’ academy and forward-thinking coaching sessions – plus other idea-generating or conscious awareness-focused projects:
Conscious Design & Ideation Projects...

The Envisionary (Website)
A 'living lab' academy (with conscious-thinking coaching sessions) that wakes up our creative core, agency, and vision. Build your design-thinking capacity, adapt to a changing future, see what humans need ahead-of-curve, craft your own vision, and develop consciously-led, value-based, human-centered ideas/solutions - with Envisionary Solutions for direct client ideation/solution work (portfolio below).

The Conscious Designer (Book)
This book helps us see and welcome a pivotal next stage of design-thinking - one which transcends past designing for attention and consumed comforts (that plagues modern society in entitlement, judgement, and distraction), and one which we all must consciously get involved in to change and design for the better. (part of 'the conscious thinker' / 'the conscious leader' trilogy)

Activate (App)
Activate (formally 3 Things Today) helps and challenges people to unearth and achieve 'goals that matter' i.e. those that align to their deeper needs and values - from overcoming specific fears or habits, to building relevant skills to match their desires. Find buddies or mentors as you make 'actionable' milestone progress - learning to cut out what isn't necessary and do more of what is.
in progress

An idea-development app (formerly Healinno) that enables people to note and conceptualise forward-thinking 'needed' ideas or problems to solve, and then bring ideas and teams together to run idea sprints to solve them. The future of ideation that sees the best ideas and solutions rise to the top, and which then leads towards healthy innovations that can then be crowdfunded and developed.

Donkey Toilet (eBook)
Donkey what? As the title suggests, this short, direct book is about the power of stupidity and being 'outlandish' in generating ideas and solutions in a world where whatever you think is already out there, but also in how it helps breaks the ice easier to developing deeper, honest conversations and interactions, where previous branding attention-tactics lack genuine connection.
non-fiction ebook planned

A board game/app that challenges you to challenge your comfort zone, where you have to keep adapting to keep in the game and progress, and where different coloured dice, knowledge cards, and action cards combine to determine your next adaption. It helps you see how people are conditioned to have different perceptions about the same topic or situation.

Client Portfolio
Conscious Design Strategist work...
I consult clients on their existing projects or help them ideate new ones, aiming to recognise and resolve the kind of ‘wicked problems’ that lead humans into ‘autopilot’ behaviours (i.e. broken systems, dopamine addictions, dehumanising AI effects etc.). This involves scoping current issues, drawing on futurism insights, and running design thinking-led sprints, to develop new or improved solutions, social innovations, or interventions that leverage tech to raise ‘humanness’, not hinder it.

Adventurer / Journey Architect
I’ve always loved adventure and travel. Living abroad for over a decade pushed me to challenge my comfort zone, explore cultures, feed creativity, and have many joyous and challenging life experiences, but more recently it’s fed purpose-led, embodied outdoor adventuring – the movement and action side that complements my more mentally orientated creative, design side.
Beyond my own personal adventuring, this led me to become a ‘journey architect’ where, through TripSetGO, I’ve founded a fast-growing adventuring initiative that encourages travellers to embrace and create more purposeful, adventurous, and embodied trips that bring clarity, courage, release, a deeper sense of ‘aliveness’ – even leading to life-changing journeys. Alongside this, there’s accompanied ‘traveller mindset’ guide books, plus other adventurer-led projects:
Adventuring Projects...

My Adventure Challenges
'We can spend years trying to become settled or safe in life, only to realise it's adventure that helps us feel alive'. Through my own challenging outdoor expeditions, I aim to inspire people of all ages to embrace anti-fragility and embodied action rather than comfort - having also set myself an 'trip purpose goal' for every year (40-50).

TripSetGO (Website)
TripSetGO helps you discover what kind of purpose-led trips and adventures would best suit you and/or what you may need most, based on the goals or challenges you have in life, rather than based on generic places to see. It's where you unlock and build trips that can lead to personal growth that both challenge and enrich you far beyond your trip.

Finding The Traveller Within (Book)
In Part 1 of this 'Traveller Mindset' series, we see how our psychology can develop and change as we embrace travelling through building different traveller mindsets (over a tourist mindset, that keeps us in our comfort zone) - each which allow us to find trips right for us and to return to life with a different outlook than before we left.

Leading The Traveller Beyond (Book)
Part 2 of the 'Traveller Minsdet' series is for life after the initial breakthrough. Having spent over a decade alternating living and travelling abroad, I learnt first-hand how beneficial travelling is in transforming our life as we travel, as well as living more purposeful and impactful lives beyond. This book shows how.

Writer / Author
Writing has always been my way of processing thoughts and formulating ideas, but professional writing started in a non-linear way when travelling years ago, through travel writing gigs.
Since then, under my pen name R.S.Wills, I’ve used writing to express intrigue into a variety of areas, but mostly around the core subjects of human psychology, adventure, and futurism – where I’ve developed some expertise as a published author.

Antidote To Noise (eBook)
In a world that suggests it cares more and more about wellbeing, there's little said or done about the consequential effects ever-increasing noise pollution is having on our brain and lives. This 'little book of calm' is handy to have when nearby surrounding noise, as well as to promote ways to change noisy environments for the better.

The ADHD Switch (eBook)
Finding out as a 35+ adult that I have inattentive ADHD was a bit of a shock at first, but then considering my zest for ideas and 'hyperfocusing' through life, it then wasn't. Instead, it brought validation to a 'different' mind, which should be unleashed in the way it is meant to be. This book helps other inattentive ADHD adults accept and unleash their difference too.

Enriched (Biog)
It may seem strange to pencil in an autobiography of a desired legacy not fully lived out yet, but this gave me a premise for a unique way to write one as an ongoing story of what has been and what could be, rewriting chapters ahead consciously rather than heading through blind mistakes. Will it change the desired outcome? We shall see!

Bassist
I’m not really that active in terms of playing bass live in a band / session bassist anymore, but I do still regard myself as a bassist having spent thousands of hours learning my craft when younger, earning the nickname ‘Thumbs’ due to my unique way of using my thumb a lot of the time when playing.
Playing bass really helps me get into a state of flow which can indirectly help other skills I have, so I still try to find time for a fun session or two when I can.
Bass Projects...

Thumbs Bass
Whilst more a hobby today, I was a session bassist for bands Jagged (rock-alt/blues) and The Nineties (improvised 90's songs), but still find myself creating sample riffs for clients looking for bass riffs with my signature 'thumbs' style sound.

Bassventures
As part of the Bearventures writing there's a series of bass riffs created to symbolise each bear character and all the places around The Bearlagos map. You know where you are by the bass sound!
Questioning and testing modern life, and imagining the future, to discover what helps humans thrive or dive.
“Don’t fear your lost or hidden potential. Instead embrace life to explore it”
My upcoming podcast is about getting out there and living your ‘bucket list life’ in seeking to build the dream and legacy you had, as well as seeking how to optimise yourself and live your best whilst you can (seeking out people like Wim Hof, the ice man, and Alex Huberman, a leading neuroscientist), and also exploring the big issues that are holding us back such as conditioning and childhood fear, social media attention-seeking etc.
It’s about helping people get away from shit and inspiring people to change and live their life by doing something before it’s too late, and avoiding the peril traps of modern society that lead to escapism and avoidance for instant gratification, but which take us away from truly living our limited-in-time lives.
The podcast also is about hearing from older people who wish they had done something more or else, and looks at people making great contributions and who think differently too, as well being a wake up call to myself.
I put myself into the thick of it and try to test myself with extreme challenges, not just physically, but also to go deep psychologically to find what matters most in life. It’s not about reckless dares, but a challenge in anti-fragility and seeing my (safe) limits of what I could’ve become, and my limitations of what I can’t and how to deal with that, which others can relate to (like living without kids).
It also takes a look at building a legacy by thinking of forward-thinking solutions to stifling human-related problems that are keeping us held back too (and links to the Initiative Series idea).
Essentially this planned podcast/channel brings together my design futurist, mind coach, and adventurer sides into a YesTheory ‘do things before it’s too late’ meets ImpactTheory ‘optimising interviews’ meets Tyler Oliviera ‘investigative journalism of main psychosocial issues’ unique podcast!
